Solomon Islands - Australia Partnership for Governance is seeking a professional, registered, and licensed local survey company to carry out surveying tasks necessary to facilitate the proposed development to sub-divide part of the land at Gilbert Camp.
Overview
MLHS intends to complete the cadastral survey of part of Gilbert Camp in Parcel No 191-052-596. Cadastral surveys involve the precise measurement and mapping of land parcels, so that property boundaries are defined and documented. This will establish legal property lines, assist in land development, and ensure that ownership rights are clearly defined.
The survey will give the MLHS and the Land Board the basis for determining allocation of formal land titles to residents of this part of Gilbert Camp. Residents will also have a clearly demarcated subdivision, including clearly demarcated corridors for access, drainage, and utilities.
The MLHS is responsible for administering the surveying, registration, and transfer of land titles across Solomon Islands, and oversight for the country’s mapping and urban planning functions to meet the growing demands from citizens, private sector, and government ministries.
The Ministry ensures land transactions are conducted in a manner that is fair, transparent, and in full compliance with relevant laws and regulations. It uses a set of Acts of Parliament to deliver its responsibilities and services including:
- Registering land transactions in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensuring that land rents are determined based on fair and transparent principles, with timely collection.
- Meeting all statutory requirements related to surveying and valuations.
- Maintaining land records in a secure and accessible manner.
The Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) is Australia’s largest and most significant infrastructure investment in the Pacific. This $4 billion infrastructure initiative is actively engaging with countries in the region to significantly boost Australia’s support for infrastructure development in Pacific countries and Timor-Leste. The Facility uses grant funding combined with loans to support the development of high priority, quality infrastructure.
Over the next 5 years AIFFP plans to finance over $1 billion of Ports, Roads and Electrification infrastructure projects requiring expertise including skilled engineers, builders, electricians, plumbers, environmental scientists, accountants and project managers. AIFFP intends to open up job opportunities for young Pacific Island professionals to develop their skills and experience in delivering the large-scale infrastructure works it finances. This is in addition to the opportunities which have been available during the project design and preparation phases i.e. with consulting teams contracted by AIFFP to undertake feasibility studies and deliver infrastructure designs.
AIFFP, through the AIFFP Support Unit (SU), requires external assistance by a PNG-based consultancy/service provider to identify, screen and create a database of potential recent and near graduates to supply a pool of work ready candidates to the contractors/consultants responsible for AIFFP project delivery.
AIFFP is seeking delivery of services through a PNG-based or substantially PNG-based firm or organisation to ensure local knowledge and insight in the identification of relevant graduates from both a location and sectoral basis. The services and this requirement are to advance delivery of the AIFFP Local Content principle of maximising the use and upskilling of local labour and the private sector.
