Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic International Director to lead the Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC). The International Director will manage relationships with all VAC Foundational Partners and external stakeholders, ensuring the achievement of the Centre’s outcomes. This role involves working closely with the National Director VAC to develop the VAC as an innovative, trusted, and dynamic hub for leadership, education, and research activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver contractual program outcomes in line with Annual Plans and Head Contract requirements for the VAC.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Australian Embassy Hanoi, the Communist Party of Vietnam, Government of Vietnam, education and research institutions, and the private sector.
- Lead the delivery of relevant and effective training, capacity-building, policy-analysis and research activities in areas of mutual interest to Australia and Vietnam with consideration of the political economy
- Coordinate active and productive VAC Program Steering Committee (PSC) and Executive Committee (EC) meetings.
- Provide timely reporting on activities and progress towards intended outcomes, including financial data and other required information.
- Implement and maintain ways of working with the Australian Government and other VAC Foundational Partners.
- Proactively identify and manage risk in accordance with program guidelines and Australian legislation.
Selection Criteria:
- Postgraduate degree(s) in public administration, international development, human resource development, higher education, or a related field.
- Substantial international experience at a senior level with the development, planning, and management of projects or teams involved in capacity development and/or skills development.
- Highly developed leadership and project management skills, including planning and implementation, team/personnel management, and financial, risk, and contract management.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain high-level professional working relationships and strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Previous experience with Australian Government-funded projects and knowledge of relevant policies, standards, and protocols.
- Proven understanding and demonstration of support for a wide range of cross-cutting issues, such as GEDSI, PSEAH, and fraud control.
- A solid understanding of the social, cultural, political, and institutional factors affecting development in Vietnam.
