SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
The DFAT-funded Knowledge Partnership Platform (KONEKSI) is Australia’s flagship program in the Indonesia knowledge and innovation sector. KONEKSI’s goal is to achieve an enduring relationship between Indonesia and Australia that advances mutual interest and supports Indonesia’s inclusive and sustainable development. The purpose of the program is to increase the use of knowledge-based solutions for inclusive and sustainable policies and technologies. This purpose positions KONEKSI as a vehicle to produce knowledge on complex socio-economic problems, where effective solutions are often beyond a unique sector or category of stakeholders. It will support both the knowledge to policy cycle (K2P) and the knowledge to innovation cycle (K2I), in a complementary and synergistic way. KONEKSI will focus on two End of Investment Outcomes (EOIOs):

Australian and Indonesian organisations have increased collaboration and mutual understanding through knowledge partnerships; and

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
KONEKSI is seeking a Senior Writer – Digital Newsletter to plan, organise, and execute its digital newsletter in alignment with KONEKSI’s goals, under the supervision and guidance of the Communications Manager. The Senior Writer will play a critical role in ensuring the organisation effectively communicates its key messages to stakeholders through digital newsletters. The newsletter will serve as a platform to share updates, insights, and resources, reflecting KONEKSI’s commitment to knowledge partnerships, gender, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) principles, as well as knowledge-to-policy and knowledge-to-innovation pathways.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Writer – Digital Newsletter will be responsible for the following:
- Content creation and management
- Write, edit, and proofread content for digital newsletters, ensuring alignment with the KONEKSI’s objectives.
- Plan newsletter themes, content calendars, and storylines to ensure consistent and relevant communication.
- Research and develop engaging content that caters to diverse audiences.
- Newsletter execution
- Design and format newsletters using digital tools such as Mailchimp (or other similar platforms).
- Ensure newsletters are visually appealing, responsive, and optimised for various devices.
- Collaborate with graphic designers and other contributors to enhance the newsletter’s visual and narrative quality.
- Planning and coordination
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather updates, reports, and materials for newsletter content.
- Monitor deadlines to ensure timely publication and distribution.
- Track and analyse newsletter performance metrics to inform future improvements.
- Technical expertise and digital tools
- Manage the newsletter’s mailing lists and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Utilise tools like Mailchimp (or other similar platform) for automation, segmentation, and analytics.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and tools for digital communication and newsletter development.
Deliverables
Deliverables include the following:
- Regularly published digital newsletters (e.g., monthly, quarterly) with engaging and high-quality content.
- Performance reports analysing the reach, engagement, and impact of newsletters.
- Recommendations for improving the effectiveness of future newsletters.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Master’s degree in communications, social sciences, journalism, international relations, development, or relevant field with minimum experience of 5 years, or
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences, journalism, international relations, or relevant fields with minimum experience of 10 years
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in using Mailchimp or other email marketing platforms.
- Strong storytelling and writing skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of design principles and experience working with visual content.
- Understanding of data analytics and the ability to interpret performance metrics.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in promoting gender, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) principles through communication materials.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Prior experience in international development.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
