This position manages all aspects of the scholarship process, integrates systems with partner institutions, and supports graduates to achieve meaningful employment outcomes, driving long-term impact in PNG’s workforce development.

About Strongim Wok Long TVET (SWLT)
The Papua New Guinea (PNG)–Australia Strongim Wok Long Technical and Vocational Education and Training (SWLT) program is a new Australian Government investment that will be working in partnership with PNG to strengthen its technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector. Aligned with PNG’s national priority to build an educated and skilled workforce for resilient economic growth, SWLT aims to enhance the quality, relevance, and inclusiveness of skills development. The program will work closely with TVET stakeholders and select technical colleges to grow the number of skilled individuals with industry relevant skills.    

This Opportunity
As Scholarships Lead you will be responsible for managing the delivery of a culturally appropriate and inclusive scholarship program in collaboration with key TVET stakeholders.

This will include: 

  • Leading the design and implementation of an inclusive scholarships program in partnership with TVET stakeholders
  • Managing all stages of the scholarship cycle—from outreach and selection to student support and graduate outcomes
  • Ensuring accessibility for women, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups
  • Coordinating logistics, budgets, and risk management across short- and long-term awards
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and integrate scholarship systems into broader, stakeholder program functions and resourcing
  • Contributing to public diplomacy, safeguarding, gender quality, disability and social inclusion, and climate-friendly practices 

About you
You will have experience in

  • The design and delivery of scholarship programs and management of scholarship support systems
  • Program management in a development context, and with deep understanding of financial management and compliance requirements

Additional key requirements include:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, and ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including partner government counterparts
  • Experience working on programs that promote inclusive and diverse access would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of locally-led, socially inclusive, politically informed and adaptive programming.
