The Australia Awards South Asia & Mongolia program is seeking technical proposals from Registered Training Organisations in Australia, or Australian tertiary institutions as defined in the Higher Education Support Act, 2003 Table A, B and C, to design and deliver a Short Course on Social Intervention to Counter Violent Extremism in Bangladesh (Bangladesh).
Australia Awards – South Asia & Mongolia (the Program) is seeking a cost-effective training program for up to 24 participants. This Short Course will be delivered via blended delivery over maximum of four months, commencing in April 2026 and completing no later than June 2026.
This Short Course will focus on social intervention mechanisms at the grassroots to counter violent extremism in Bangladesh. Intervention mechanisms will involve bridging trust between communities and local authorities to identify and address early signs of radicalisation. The objectives of the course are detailed below:
- Developing community networks: Participants would be able to develop strong grassroots network among communities.
- Raising awareness: Participants would be able to assist in developing understanding of radicalism among communities and its adverse effects on societies and institutions.
- Early indicators of radicalism: Participants would be able to assist communities in developing the capability early identification of radicalism.
- Bridging communities and local authorities: Participants would be able to develop a framework of trust between communities and local authorities.
- Reporting mechanisms: Participants would be able to develop a framework of communication between communities and local authorities to facilitate reporting on radicalism.
The course will support the participants in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of effective intervention programs within communities to discourage and prevent radicalisation at an early stage. The course will also enhance participants’ capacity to develop mechanisms to integrate their counter violent extremism intervention program with the domestic counter violent extremism strategy and strengthen the policy support for national counterterrorism mechanisms.
Course participants, with their exposure to best practices in counter violent extremism from Australia, will support in the strengthening of bilateral people-to-people links and contribute to promoting Australia’s vision for a peaceful, stable, prosperous and inclusive Indo-Pacific Region.
This Short Course will support up to 24 participants.
