DT Global is seeking a motivated and experienced Prosecution Adviser to join the Australia PNG Law and Justice Partnership (APLJ). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to combating transnational crime and strengthening law and justice system in PNG.
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG) – with periodic travel to other locations in PNG
Duration: 12-month contract (3-month probation period) with possibility of extension
About the Australia–PNG Law and Justice Partnership (APLJ)
APLJ is the next phase of Australia’s investment in strengthening the delivery of law and justice services in PNG 2024-27.
APLJ seeks to contribute to PNG’s law and justice sector capacity to provide inclusive, safe, secure and accountable law and justice foundations for peaceful and prosperous communities, equitable economic development and private sector growth.
The program aligns with the Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG) law and justice sector goal of ‘building peaceful and prosperous communities together’.
Objectives of the Role
As the Prosecution Adviser, you will support the Office of Public Prosecutor (OPP) to strengthen its capacity in:
- Proceeds of crime prosecutions and international crime cooperation.
- Fraud, corruption, and transnational crime prosecution.
- Mentoring local lawyers and developing procedural frameworks.
- Supporting law reform and improving collaboration between law enforcement agencies.

About You
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Admission as a legal practitioner in Australia, PNG, or an equivalent jurisdiction.
- At least 10 years of experience in prosecuting transnational crime and proceeds of crime cases.
- Expertise in anti-money laundering, human trafficking, or similar areas.
- Proven capacity-building and mentoring skills.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively in complex, cross-cultural environments.
