Position
A Gender Equality Disability Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Advisor will play a key role in advocating for gender equality, disability and social inclusion within the JID business and for agreed projects.
For agreed projects, the GEDSI Advisor will support project team to ensure key stakeholders create and implement appropriate policies, procedures and activities in support of equality and inclusion.
Additionally, where agreed for internal projects, the GEDSI Advisor will support JID led projects (e.g., PNG Women in Construction) and tenders with a GEDSI lens, to improve the quality of GEDSI approaches.
Responsibilities
The JID Gender Equality Disability Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Advisor will play a key role in advocating for gender equality, disability and social inclusion within the JID business and for agreed projects. For agreed projects, the GEDSI Advisor will support project team to ensure key stakeholders create and implement appropriate policies, procedures and activities in support of equality and inclusion.
For agreed projects:
- Lead the development of a GEDSI Strategy for the Project;
- Advise, support and implement the successful management of the GEDSI Strategy in all project activities;
- Develop positive relationships with relevant project stakeholders to maximise GEDSI outcomes and provide capacity strengthening and policy advice;
- Actively monitor and contribute to the management of GESDI risks;
- Provide advice and support to the Project team to build capacity, knowledge and understanding of GEDSI issues internally and with external stakeholders.
Required Experience
- 10+ years professional experience
- Fluent English essential
- Experience in leading GEDSI strategies, plans and activities for major programs essential
- Experience in the Pacific desirable, experience in international development essential
- Experience in other development partner funded programs (e.g. DFAT) highly desirable
- Degree in GEDSI, development studies, or similar preferred
- Experience in infrastructure programs preferred but not essential
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills
