About Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program     

The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme is a signature initiative for the Australian Government that enables workers from 9 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and Timor- Leste to work in priority sectors in Australia. The Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program’s (PLMSP) role is to provide the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and governments in 9 PICs and Timor-Leste with support to enable workers to access PALM scheme in inclusive ways that maximise the benefits for the workers and national economies while minimising risks from labour mobility participation. Palladium is contracted to deliver PLMSP on behalf of DFAT.  

This Opportunity  

The Inclusion Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Labour Mobility Unit (LMU) to develop and implement its inclusion and diversity agenda and its welfare priorities.

This is a fixed term opportunity required to September 2028

Description

The Inclusions Coordinator will be responsible for: 

  •  Develop a GEDSI strategy and approach for the LMU that is culturally appropriate and relevant to the Solomon Islands context.
  • Support LMU staff to integrate GEDSI principles into policies, processes and everyday practice.
  • Provide technical advice and mentoring to LMU staff on gender equality, disability inclusion and social inclusion.
  • Collaborate with the LMU to plan and implement agreed GEDSI initiatives, including disability inclusion, gender-based violence, research and monitoring.
  • Strengthen partnerships with Australian and Pacific‑based organisations, women’s groups, NGOs, faith groups and other GEDSI stakeholders.
  • Contribute to PLMSP’s GEDSI Strategy by facilitating inclusion and diversity activities within the LMU.
  • Support welfare-related processes, including implementing referral SOPs in line with national pathways as part of the community of care model.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, fostering a respectful, equitable and inclusive working environment.

We are seeking an individual who: 

  •  Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, Community Development or Anthropology
  • At least five years professional experience working in relevant programs.
  • Previous experience working on gender, disability and social inclusion programming activities such as promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace; or prevention and response to violence against women, supporting women’s economic empowerment or supporting women in leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple cross-cultural contexts.
  • Strong liaison and coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • Strong skills in written communication and report writing.
