We are looking for our next Finance Specialist to join our team of high performing experts, who are passionate about delivering for the community, on our infrastructure project in Kiribati. You will oversee and manage all financial planning and financial operations for Te Kai in Kiribati, working with a team delivering important social and community infrastructure that is sustainable, resilient and meets the needs of I-Kiribati people. In this role you will undertake financial planning and modelling for multi-year work plans, manage all financial operations including expenditure and forecasting, ensuring all expenditure is approved and compliant.

The Kiribati Australia Infrastructure (Te KAI)
The Kiribati Australia Infrastructure (Te KAI) program aims to provide a flexible and responsive mechanism to deliver small to medium value infrastructure projects in Kiribati that are of a high-quality, climate resilient, inclusive and purpose-built.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support financial operations: manage Te Kai’s financial operations, including financial planning and expenditure, in line with policies and procedures with support of the wider program team.
- Champion financial integrity: ensure efficient and effective financial services, safeguarding against risks through robust policy and procedure adherence.
- Drive excellence through high quality reporting: prepare high quality financial reporting for a variety of stakeholders to inform decision making and planning.
- Manage procurement: manage end to end simple procurement processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services for program activities.
- Support payroll operations: support a productive work environment through timely and efficient payments.
- Enhance program financial operations: maintain high quality policies and procedures for financial operations and continually seek ways to improve financial operations performance, planning, budgeting and reporting.
Selection criteria
- Proven experience in accounting processes, standards, financial systems management and expenditure, ideally experience with donor funded programs.
- Experience developing budgets for multi-year programs and managing budget forecasting.
- Experience in financial management of activity budgets and expenditure tracking.
- Proven ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a complex project management environment with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven knowledge and skills in managing financial policies and procedures and compliance with financial statutory requirements.
- Experience in the simple procurement and contracting cycle for goods and services.
- Demonstrated commitment to integrating cross cutting issues such as gender equality, disability and social inclusion, civil society engagement, climate change/disaster risk reduction, child protection and/or prevention sexual exploitation abuse and harassment across operations and processes.
