Description

Australia Awards PNG Overview

The Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) program supports Papua New Guinea’s development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, fostering strong Australia-PNG partnerships. It promotes inclusive, high-quality education by strengthening accredited training institutions and facilitating institution-to-institution collaborations. AAPNG empowers Papua New Guinea’s future leaders with professional and technical skills aligned to government priorities, ensuring opportunities for women, people with disabilities, and those from rural areas. The program offers three study pathways: long-term postgraduate scholarships in Australia, long-term scholarships in PNG addressing workforce gaps, and short-term professional development courses in both countries.

  • Manage events database and coordinate all AAPNG program events, including budgeting, venue selection, and service provider negotiations.
  • Collaborate with communications for event materials, handle invitations, RSVPs, and on-day event management.
  • Develop risk management plans, ensure health, safety, and GEDSI compliance, and conduct post-event evaluations.
  • Maintain relationships with service providers and support procurement compliance and financial management.
  • Support scholarship promotion, MERL data collection, program reporting, and stakeholder relationship building.
  • Champion GEDSI principles, undertake provincial travel, foster a positive program culture, and ensure workplace safety.

  • Undergraduate qualification in administration, project management, communications, education, human resources, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven project and event management experience within an international development context.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and report writing skills with the ability to handle competing priorities effectively.
