Program Background

The Solomon Islands-Australia Partnership for Health is a four-year initiative from January 2025 to December 2028. This program succeeds the Health Sector Support Program Phase 3 (HSSP3), which operated from 2016 to 2024. The new partnership focuses on enhancing provincial health service delivery and strengthening the Ministry of Health and Medical Services' capacity to implement the National Health Strategic Plan 2022–2031. Australia has committed AU$28 million to this four-year health program, with an emphasis on provincial service delivery.

The Role
The Deputy Team Leader is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Health Partnership Program and supporting the Team Leader in ensuring high-quality, efficient, and compliant delivery. This includes oversight of operations, technical workstreams, monitoring and evaluation, communications, grants and awards, and performance management of the program team. The Deputy will also act for the Team Leader when required.

This role is open to both international and local applicants.

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience in program management with experience in monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting, communications and public diplomacy, program planning, grant and budget management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate a team and capacity build program team members.
  • Collaborative skills with the ability to manage team members to meet program needs and ensure progress towards program outcomes.
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare high quality reports within agreed timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate safeguards considerations in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure child protection, gender equality and disability and social inclusion outcomes are progressed.

 

Desired Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience working on international development programs in Solomon Islands or in the Melanesian/Pacific Islands context, demonstrating cross cultural skills.
  • Experience in the health sector and/or delivery of health systems strengthening programs
  • High level flexibility and the willingness to take a leading role in the acceptance and implementation of change.
  • Demonstrated experience adapting development programs based on lessons learned, sector reforms, and development partner strategies and budgets.


Remuneration
Commensurate to the technical knowledge and years of relevant experience and in accordance with the DT Global and ASIPS remuneration framework
