Fiji Program Support Platform (FPSP)

  • Base in Suva, Fiji
  • Locally Engaged Employee - 3 year contract with possible 2 year extension

Program Overview:    

FPSP, also referred to as the ‘Platform’, a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) investment, will contribute to the delivery of Fiji’s national development priorities, in line with the Australia’s International Development Policy, the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership and the Development Partnership Plan. 

The Platform will deliver key bilateral programs, such as health, education, scholarships, social infrastructure, governance, climate and emergency preparedness and response. Platform activities will identify and address climate risks, promote climate action, and gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) across and beyond the sector programs.

The Platform has three functional Outcomes: 

  1. The Platform has delivered its sector program outcomes, including through supporting strategic coherence, planning, partnerships management, data and learning across the portfolio of investments.
  2. The Platform has prioritised gender equality, disability-inclusive development, and climate and disaster resilience, in its systems and practices. This includes in how it undertakes sector programming and its engagement with selected Government of Fiji (GoF) agencies.
  3. The Platform administers timely and efficient programming that is: value for money; maximises use of local supply chains; and supports good governance, and public diplomacy, effective decision making and risk management.
Description

Position Summary:    

The Communications team sits within the Performance, Learning and Communications Hub. The Communications Officer will support the Communications & PD Manager to create internal and external communications across the FPSP portfolio. The Communications Officer will ensure communications outputs are compliant with DFAT and Abt Global policies.

Key Responsibilities:    

Communications

  • Under the guidance of the Communications Coordinator and Communications & PD Manager, develop and produce high quality digital and offline content including articles, stories and email newsletters 
  • Contribute to the design of visually appealing graphics and multimedia content aligned with FPSP’s goals
  • Create and schedule engaging social media posts, monitor interactions, and report trends and insights to the Communications Team
  • Provide communications timely planning and content briefs for events in the FPSP calendar and support event production
  • Develop strong internal relationships across the portfolio to ensure that the communications team is aware of stories of change and impact
  • Draft written communications materials including press releases, articles, stories of change etc.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Team to understand the MEL system.
  • Effectively participate in the Communications Community of Practice (CoP) which will see representation from the FPSP, its component programs and other implementing partners. 

General

  • Provide support to team members on communications-related tasks.
  • Provide regular updates to the Communications & PD Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as requested by Communications & PD Manager.
     

Key Deliverables:     

  • Stories and news from across the Platform and sector programs. 
  • Targeted, thoughtful and evidence-based communications outputs, integrating a gender-responsive, disability inclusive and safeguarding lens throughout.
  • Quality reporting, deliverables submitted on time that meet internal (Abt) and external (DFAT) requirements.
     

Reporting to:     

  • Communications & Public Diplomacy (PD) Manager

Selection Criteria:    

  • Qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or relevant field desired
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience working in a communications and/or digital marketing role preferably in the development context
  • Excellent writing skills, with experience writing for different audiences and across different platforms
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Mailchimp as well as digital design applications such as Canva
  • Ability to use InDesign and Illustrator a plus
  • Must show initiative, commitment, flexibility and ability to work in cross-cultural environments
