Aus4Growth is looking for an individual that has over 15 years' experience working in the energy space and have a strong background in renewable energy transition and sustainability, energy generation and grid capacity modernisation, electricity market reforms, and pricing frameworks.
The Program
Aus4Growth (A4G) is a partnership between Australia and Vietnam and aims to close gaps in policy and practice to support enhanced economic growth, trade and investment, clean energy and transport, inclusion, and digital acceleration.
Building on previous programs - Aus4Reform and Aus4Transport - A4G integrated emerging initiatives in energy, trade, inclusion, and digital. A4G will directly support the priorities of the Australia - Vietnam Development Partnership Plan 2025-2030 and the Australia-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (March 2024).
The Opportunity
The Domain Lead Energy will provide strategic leadership and oversight in the design, implementation, and management of program activities within the Energy Domain, ensuring alignment with A4G objectives as well as Government of Vietnam (GoV) and DFAT priorities.
Working closely with the A4G Team Leader, Delivery Co-Leads, Domain Teams and with GoV counterparts, this position will play a pivotal role in identifying key areas for intervention, shaping strategic direction, and overseeing the execution of the projects and program activities, including the early activities identified in the initial domain strategies. This position will also provide ongoing technical advice to refine and develop priority focus areas, ensuring evidence-based, high-impact interventions.
About You
- Advance degree in a relevant field such as economics, public policy, international development, or a sector-specific discipline
- Over 15 years working in energy space and having a strong background in renewable energy transition and sustainability, energy generation and grid capacity modernisation, electricity market reforms, and pricing frameworks
- Proven experience (5+ years) working in Vietnam's energy sector, and demonstrated success and positive engagement with senior GoV agencies, officials, and policymakers (especially Ministry of Industry and Trade and Electricity Authority of Vietnam) as well as private sector actors and other stakeholders at various levels in Vietnam
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence diverse audiences, including senior government officials, donors, and program partners
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment, fostering teamwork and cross-sectoral coordination
