About Fiji’s labour mobility program
Fiji participates in international labour mobility initiatives, including the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme and New Zealand’s Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme. The National Employment Centre and Foreign Employment Services Unit support their delivery, with assistance from the Pacific Labour Mobility Support Program and other partners.
About the role
The officer coordinates public information and media activities, responds to enquiries, and supports the administration of worker registration, recruitment, screening and mobilisation. The role uses a range of digital, broadcast, print and community channels to connect people with timely information and services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop communication plans, awareness campaigns and outreach activities that support National Employment Centre and labour mobility objectives.
- Create and maintain content for social media, websites, newsletters, brochures, radio, television and print, including success stories, photographs, videos and stories of change.
- Support media engagement and promote program opportunities and achievements with government, development partners, employers and communities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries received in person, by telephone, email, social media and other channels.
- Provide accurate information about eligibility, registration, recruitment, mobilisation, training, worker support services and relevant labour mobility schemes.
- Guide applicants through program requirements, manage concerns or complaints appropriately, and escalate complex matters when required.
- Provide administrative support for worker registration, recruitment, screening, mobilisation and documentation.
- Support stakeholder events, community awareness sessions and recruitment campaigns, while maintaining productive relationships with labour mobility partners.
- Contribute communication products and stories to monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning, and ensure materials meet government, program and safeguarding standards.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, human resource management, employment relations, business administration, commerce or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
- Has at least three years’ experience in communications, media relations, customer service, public administration or a related field.
- Can plan campaigns, manage digital channels and produce clear, engaging content for different audiences.
- Communicates clearly in writing and verbally, with strong editing, proofreading, customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Has experience providing accurate administration in a professional environment and can manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Is confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and internet-based applications.
- Demonstrates sound judgement, professionalism, initiative, attention to detail and a commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high-quality service.
Experience using graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe InDesign or Photoshop, together with photography, videography, radio broadcasting or community-based communication skills, will be highly regarded. Familiarity with labour mobility programs, particularly the PALM scheme, and experience working with government, development partners, employment service providers or monitoring and reporting activities would also be an advantage.
