KITA SEHAT Program Background

The Australia–Indonesia Partnership for Health Transformation (KITA SEHAT) is a four-year investment of approximately A$50 million by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), implemented in partnership with the Government of Indonesia to support national human and animal health priorities. Building on Australia’s longstanding health sector engagement, including the Australia Indonesia Health Security Partnership (AIHSP), the program strengthens health systems and health security across both human and animal health, while renewing support for primary health care in line with Indonesia’s health transformation agenda. Operating at national and selected subnational levels, KITA SEHAT provides strategic policy, governance, and service delivery advice through technical assistance, public sector partnerships, research, and CSO/NGO grants. The program works closely with UN agencies and other development partners to ensure coordinated and complementary support. Its four end of program outcomes focus on strengthening primary health care policies and services, improving health system enablers and workforce capacity, and enhancing health security, with gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion (GEDSI) and climate resilience integrated throughout.

Description

KITA SEHAT aims to work with eligible organisations to deliver community-based programs that improve access to primary health care and prevent stunting in three districts of NTT. 

This grants round directly contributes to End-of-Program Outcome 2 (EOPO2) of the Program: “By 2033, selected subnational authorities have improved the quality of and access to primary health services with a focus on stunting prevention and the inclusion of women, people with disability and other marginalised groups.” And more specifically to Intermediate Outcome (IO) 2.1 Selected subnational authorities have improved understanding of the determinants of stunting and undernutrition and develop effective, locally led primary health responses.

Grants will support the government's efforts to implement primary health care integration based on a life-cycle approach through locally led initiatives that are consistent with national and provincial health priorities, improve subnational health outcomes, consider sustainability of locally led approaches - which may involve promoting stronger collaboration with local health offices and generate evidence and lessons that can be shared with local authorities and fed into policy dialogue, and demonstrate innovative, scalable approaches to community health.

About The Potential Organisations 

• Indonesian civil society organisations (CSOs), including non-government organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations, and faith-based organisations legally registered in Indonesia.
• Indonesian research or academic institutions, including universities and polytechnics, where the project includes a significant community-level implementation component.
• Consortia of eligible organisations, with one lead organisation designated as the grant recipient and accountable party.
• International NGOs demonstrating partnership with organisations described above.
