Description

Contribute to a world where people, communities and the planet thrive.

Tetra Tech International Development is a leading development consulting firm working with governments, businesses, and NGOs to solve complex development challenges across the Indo-Pacific region. Through trusted partnerships and technical excellence, we support sustainable development outcomes that improve lives and strengthen communities.

The Opportunity

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea's development through education, knowledge transfer, institutional capacity building, and enduring relationships between PNG and Australia. The program strengthens people-to-people links, supports high-quality education, and fosters partnerships that build the capability of PNG's tertiary education sector.

As the Higher Education Partnerships Advisor, you will provide high-level strategic and technical advice to identify, develop and strengthen partnerships between PNG tertiary institutions and Australian universities. Working closely with higher education stakeholders across both countries, you will support initiatives that build institutional capability, improve collaboration opportunities, and strengthen long-term relationships across the sector.

You will also contribute to monitoring and learning activities associated with Higher Education Partnerships Grants and support the design of innovative staff mobility opportunities for PNG academic and administrative personnel.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced higher education professional seeking a flexible advisory role with meaningful impact across the PNG and Australian tertiary sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and support the development of strategic partnerships between PNG tertiary institutions and Australian universities
  • Build and strengthen relationships with higher education stakeholders across Australia and Papua New Guinea
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration in teaching, research, institutional development, and capacity strengthening
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of Higher Education Partnerships Grants and contribute to continuous program improvement
  • Design and advise on staff mobility initiatives supporting academic and administrative exchanges between PNG and Australian institutions
  • Represent Australia Awards PNG in discussions with universities, partner institutions, and sector stakeholders to promote sustainable collaboration and partnership outcomes

About You

You are a highly experienced higher education professional with a strong track record of developing institutional partnerships, engaging senior stakeholders, and delivering strategic initiatives within complex environments.

You will bring:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in education, international development, business administration, or a related field
  • Significant experience in higher education partnerships, international education, mobility programs, or institutional collaboration
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian and/or Papua New Guinea higher education sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage senior academic, institutional, and government stakeholders
  • Experience supporting institutional capacity building, partnership development, or knowledge exchange programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with experience working effectively across cultures and diverse stakeholder groups
  • A flexible, adaptable and solutions-focused approach to delivering outcomes in dynamic environments

Experience working in international development programs and/or the Indo-Pacific region will be highly regarded.
