Program Overview:
FPSP, also referred to as the ‘Platform’, a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) investment, will contribute to the delivery of Fiji’s national development priorities, in line with the Australia’s International Development Policy, the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership and the Development Partnership Plan.
The Platform will deliver key bilateral programs, such as health, education, scholarships, social infrastructure, governance, climate and emergency preparedness and response. Platform activities will identify and address climate risks, promote climate action, and gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) across and beyond the sector programs.
The Platform has three functional Outcomes:
- The Platform has delivered its sector program outcomes, including through supporting strategic coherence, planning, partnerships management, data and learning across the portfolio of investments.
- The Platform has prioritised gender equality, disability-inclusive development, and climate and disaster resilience, in its systems and practices. This includes in how it undertakes sector programming and its engagement with selected Government of Fiji (GoF) agencies.
- The Platform administers timely and efficient programming that is: value for money; maximises use of local supply chains; and supports good governance, and public diplomacy, effective decision making and risk management.
Position Summary:
The Data Visualisation and Reporting Officer will work within the Performance, Learning and Communication (PLC) Hub to strengthen how FPSP presents and communicates evidence, results, progress, lessons and adaptations across the Platform and Sector Programs.
The role will focus on translating MEL and program data into clear, accurate and engaging reporting and visual products for a range of audiences, including DFAT, Government of Fiji counterparts, sector program teams and public-facing audiences. This includes preparing charts, dashboards, placemats, infographics, summary briefs, presentations, factsheets and other evidence-based products that communicate the results and value of Australia’s investments in Fiji in ways that are accessible and visually compelling.
The Data Visualisation and Reporting Officer will work closely with the Platform Management Unit and sector program teams, particularly the MEL and communications focal points.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop clear, engaging and audience-appropriate visual products that communicate results, progress, lessons and adaptations across the Platform and Sector Programs.
- Prepare data visualisation products including charts, tables, dashboards, scorecards, placemats, infographics, slide content and summary graphics for reports, briefs, presentations and communication products.
- Support the preparation of evidence-based materials for key FPSP deliverables, including six-monthly reports, annual reports, baseline products, workplans, governance papers, learning briefs and strategic updates.
- Work closely with MEL and sector program teams to understand key findings, priority messages and evidence needs for reporting and communications purposes.
- Support the visual presentation of cross-cutting themes including GEDSI, climate and disaster resilience, localisation, strategic coherence and other agreed priorities.
- Draft and format public-facing visual products that help communicate the contribution and value of Australia’s investments in Fiji.
- Contribute to the development of portfolio-level result snapshots, evidence summaries, case study layouts, and communications packs for events, milestones and public diplomacy opportunities.
- Support maintenance and visual presentation of internal dashboards and MEL MIS outputs, including formatting, chart design and user-friendly display of information.
- Apply agreed templates, style guides, branding and formatting standards to ensure consistency across FPSP reporting and communication products.
- Check visual products carefully to ensure data is accurately represented and consistent with approved figures, analysis and narrative.
- Maintain version control and organised records of final visual assets, templates, charts and presentation materials in the PLC Knowledge Management SharePoint folders.
- Work collaboratively with the PLC Hub and relevant stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve how FPSP presents and uses evidence across reports and communications products.
- Other duties as requested by Performance & MEL and Communications & PD Managers.
Key Deliverables:
- High-quality visual products prepared for FPSP reporting, communications and governance purposes, including charts, graphics, dashboards, placemats, infographics and presentation materials.
- Accurate and user-friendly visual presentation of verified data and evidence for six-monthly reports, annual reports, workplans, learning products and other key deliverables.
- Audience-appropriate summary products that help communicate Platform and sector program results to DFAT, Government of Fiji counterparts and other stakeholders.
- Consistent application of approved visual standards, templates and branding across MEL and reporting products.
- Timely support to the preparation of public-facing materials that communicate the progress, reach, outcomes and lessons of Australia’s investments in Fiji.
- Strengthened use of visual storytelling and evidence presentation across FPSP reporting and communication products.
- Responsive support to Hubs and Programs in packaging evidence into clear visual and narrative formats.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated 3-5 years’ experience developing data visualisation and reporting products such as dashboards, charts, infographics, factsheets, presentations or summary reports for non-technical audiences.
- Strong ability to present complex information in simple, clear and visually engaging ways.
- Demonstrated experience working with data and evidence to prepare communication or reporting products, ideally in a development, government or donor-funded context.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to draft concise, accessible and audience-appropriate text to accompany visual products.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in checking consistency between data, visuals and narrative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand findings and translate them into usable products.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for visual presentation and reporting, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Power BI or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting the production of reports, presentations, briefs or communication products in a professional setting.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is desirable, such as communications, design, marketing or journalism; monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL); development studies; or a related discipline.
- Understanding of development programming, donor reporting, MEL concepts, or public-facing communication of results is desirable.
