Summary

Icon Agency (ICON) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Employment Support Officer to help deliver the Falepili Mobility Pathway Support Service, a key initiative supporting Tuvaluans migrate to Australia under the Pathway created as part of the Australia-Tuvalu Falepili Union Treaty. The 'Pacific Engagement Visa - Treaty stream' offers Tuvaluan nationals the opportunity to live, work, and settle in Australia.  

​The Employment Support Officer plays a vital role in assisting Tuvaluan visa applicants engaging with the voluntary employment service, to build the skills, confidence, and support networks needed to secure and maintain employment in Australia. The officer provides culturally tailored one-on-one and group support, helping applicants overcome barriers such as language, digital literacy, or unfamiliarity with the Australian job market. 

​This role is part of a dedicated project team and works closely with our employment partner Asuria, and the broader PEV consortium. It ensures that the employment support provided aligns with the unique cultural, language, and access needs of the Tuvaluan community and reflects best-practice models for preparing individuals with barriers for employment. 

The role location is flexible/remote and can be Australia or Pacific-based. The role is contract, Part-Time, 0.4FTE or approximately 15 hours per week - seeking applicants who can start immediately for the duration of the contract to 31st December 2025 (with possibility of extension, subject to DFAT approval). 

Description
  • Deliver group employment webinars on topics including resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and job search skills and strategies, including understanding Australian job advertisements and application processes
  • Provide email or virtual one-on-one employment coaching to applicants who opt in for support, including interview preparation coaching and effective communication with employers  
  • Work with applicants to develop personalised job plans, including identification of barriers and workplace adjustments, employment history mapping, identification of transferable skills, management of references and job application support.  
  • Maintain applicant records in the CRM, including referrals and outcomes.
  • Triage complex needs of the applicants to the project team.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with the project team.
  • Collaborate with the project team to distribute employment-related materials.
  • Contribute to fact sheets and employment toolkit materials.
