Our Team Up program is seeking a Social Inclusion Specialist based in our GHD office in either Suva Fiji or Port Moresby Papua New Guinea, for a fulltime fixed term position until 30 September 2026. This position will suit someone with strong technical expertise in disability and gender inclusion and/or protection who is comfortable with challenging existing norms and current discriminatory practices.

GHD's International Development team deliver project management and technical services for the world's largest development organisations including the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to improve the lives of people in developing countries.

 

Team Up is the Australian Government’s sport for development program in the Asia-Pacific comprising more than 35 programs that are working towards three outcomes:

  • Sport programs attract and retain women, girls and people with a disability, as well as men and boys
  • Sport organisations are safe, inclusive and accessible
  • Australia and Asia-Pacific partners use sport to strengthen relationships and build closer collaboration

These three outcomes all contribute to Team Up’s overall goal: Australia-Asia-Pacific sport partnerships support all people to realise their full potential through sport.

 

Who are we looking for?

Our Team Up program is seeking a Social Inclusion Specialistbased in our GHD office in either Suva Fiji or Port Moresby Papua New Guinea, for a fulltime fixed term position until 30 September 2026. This position will suit someone with strong technical expertise in disability and gender inclusion and/or protection who is comfortable with challenging existing norms and current discriminatory practices. 


Working with a collaborative and driven team, this position will see you supporting Program Partners across the Pacific region to self-assess their current activities and develop and implement gender and disability inclusion, and safeguarding plans.

This will include:

  • Mapping and analysing the support system for people with disabilities across multiple countries
  • Supporting partners to use the protection and inclusion tools and processes, reporting tools, and assist in developing innovative ways to present data and results to target audiences 
  • Collation and quality assurance of information from partners to support DFAT reporting requirements including for departmental annual reports and aid quality reporting.

 

What you will bring to the team:

  • A tertiary qualification in a field related to disability, gender studies, human rights, social policy, international development, governance, inclusion or other related discipline

  • Relevant knowledge and specialist experience in protection, inclusion, especially in gender equality and disability inclusion

  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of gender and disability inclusion principles and sport structures

  • Well-developed analytical skills including the ability to assess problems and identify and implement solutions in a change resistant environment

  • Ability to analyse issues, draw conclusions and indicate next steps for the program in an engaging manner

  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate meetings, communicate and interact and build relationships with representatives from multiple organisations

  • Excellent organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines, prioritise workload, and manage conflicting work demands

  • Demonstrated competence with a range of software programs including Microsoft Office programs

  • A passion for disability inclusion and the potential of sport to achieve development outcomes.
