FAIR Justice: The Fostering Advancement of Inclusive, Rights Based (FAIR) Justice Program (the Program) will advance Australia and Philippines’ shared commitment to the rule of law, rights-based justice, and strong and accountable institutions, as vital to the stability, security, and prosperity in the Philippines and in the Indo Pacific region. Building on Australia and the Philippines’ longstanding cooperation in law and justice, the Program will support a broader justice system strengthening and ensure greater synergy with DFAT’s investments in promoting rights-based justice, countering terrorism and violent extremism, combatting human trafficking and protecting children against online abuse and exploitation, as well as justice initiatives of other donors and development partners.
Key responsibilities:
As the GEDSI Specialist, you will support the Senior Program Officers to strengthen access to justice for marginalised communities. You will play a key role in developing, improving and adopting inclusive policies and practices.
- Ensure design, planning, and delivery of activities to prioritize inclusivity within the justice system.
- Provide orientation and strengthen capacity for team members and stakeholders on the GEDSI and Intersectionality Strategy.
- Develop a report outlining the operationalisation of the GEDSI and Intersectionality Strategy, including outcomes and future recommendations.
- Co-lead a community of practice on GEDSI and access to justice with the SPO, Judicial Accessibility.
Selection criteria:
- Tertiary or Postgraduate qualification in Gender Studies, International Development, Social Studies or other relevant discipline.
- Skilled in engaging local stakeholders, including CSOs and government officials, in gender and social inclusion initiatives.
- Strong understanding of international GEDSI best practices and the Philippines’ legal frameworks, with excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to provide high-level solutions to justice barriers for marginalized groups and deliver GEDSI training to various stakeholders.
