Seeking for an individual who will fill in the Secretariat Officer – Church Education Directors of Kiribati (CEDAK) and EduKAiT GEDSI (Gender Equity, Disability & Social Inclusion) Support Officer role
Program Background
EduKAiT is the main platform for the Australian Government’s support to the Kiribati Education sector, specifically the Government of Kiribati and Ministry of Education (MoE), as it implements its Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP 2024-27).
The program will be implemented in two five-year phases over 10 years. Phase 1 includes an emphasis on Literacy and Language for School Years 1-3, and gender and increased English proficiency for School Years 7–9 and address the high Year 9 dropout rate for boys.

The Role
This position has two distinct roles:
Secretariat support for CEDAK and GEDSI support for our large Gender and Disability Inclusion project. Combined they create a full-time position.
The CEDAK Secretariat Officer plays an important role in supporting CEDAK and Mission schools’ active participation in the EduKAiT program. The role will be directed by the needs of CEDAK, and performance managed by EduKAiT.
The GEDSI Support Officer plays an important role in supporting key activities identified by the EduKAiT GEDSI Coordinator and the EduKAiT international Disability and Gender Advisers. Activities will involve liaison with the Ministry of Education, other government ministries and organisations such as Te Toa Matoa.
Key activities, weekly planning and performance will be managed by the EduKAiT GEDSI Coordinator and supported, as relevant, by the EduKAiT Disability and Gender Advisers.
Responsibilities to support CEDAK include:
- Secretariat services for meetings
- Database management
Responsibilities will focus on supporting both targeted and mainstreamed GEDSI activities and will include but not be limited to:
- Data collection and management
- Relationships and Engagement
- Workshops Events and Administration

About You
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role, demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines, work collaboratively and effectively, have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and the enthusiasm and ability to work as part of a team, whilst also being able to work independently.
Qualification required:
- A relevant post-secondary school qualification such as bachelor’s degree or relevant diploma.
- Using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and general word processing skills.
- Writing clear and easy to read reports in English.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Organisational and planning skills.
- Confidence and ability to engage with a range of people including school leaders, teachers, community organisations, children and people with a range of disabilities.
- Data collection, data base management and data analysis skills.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- All other duties as outlined in the Terms of Reference.
