Program Background:
The Incentive Fund is a flagship program for the Australian Government that has delivered critical infrastructure to under-served communities across Papua New Guinea.
The Incentive Fund Phase 5 (IF5) commenced in July 2023 and runs for an initial four years. IF5 represents the next phase of Australia’s long-term investment in essential social and economic infrastructure in Papua New Guinea, through a mechanism that has established its development effectiveness over two decades of operations. As with previous phases, the IF5 will deliver a competitive and high-quality grant finance mechanism that provides an incentive for communities to engage more purposefully and effectively in development.

The Role
The Communications Coordinator will contribute to the success of IF5 through supporting the implementation of IF5’s public relations communications strategies, including the development of high-quality communication products for a wide range of stakeholders to inform audiences about the program, its approach and impact.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support the production and quality assure regular public diplomacy communication materials to support IF5 activities.
- Produce high quality content for program communication channels (social media, releases, blogs, webinars, website, launches and other events).
- Support engagement with media on IF5 activities and achievements.
- Produce a suite of IF5 information and promotional materials (fact sheets, banners, merchandise, etc.).
- Provide guidance to the planning, budgeting, design and production of publications and media materials.
- Work closely with the MERLA and Knowledge Management team to produce engaging products to widely share outcomes, learning and knowledge generated by IF5 and partners via a range of formats and platforms including print, digital and social media.
- Facilitate in-house communications and media training for IF5 teams and partners on raising the profile and visibility of partnership activities.
- Guide IF5 partners in effective communications and compliance with DFAT and IF5 branding and visibility guidelines and communication protocols across the program.
- Work closely with GEDSI team to ensure gender and inclusion principles are included in communications-related activities
- Effective contributions to program reports.
- Ad hoc communications tasks as requested by the IF5 Communications & Public Diplomacy Manager.
- The Communications Coordinator will report to the Communications & Public Diplomacy Manager, with performance reviews undertaken by the Communications & Public Diplomacy Manager.
About You
Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Media, Journalism, Public Relations or related field, or relevant ‘on the job’ professional skills and experience.
Essential Experience, Capacities and Knowledge
- Early career professional, with relevant work experience in communications, marketing and / or public relations
- Proven experience developing and strengthening communications systems and processes within large programs or organisations
- Ability to adhere to the requirements of working in a DFAT funded program, including compliance to DFAT procedures, policies and code of conduct.
- Demonstrated experience managing digital media, particularly websites, online forums and social media.
- Strong interpersonal skills and management skills, including in cross-cultural contexts
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in a manner easily understood by non-experts
- Strong ICT skills, including familiarity with desktop publishing software
