Program Background

The Australian Government's Economic and Social Infrastructure Program (ESIP) works with partners to deliver economic and social infrastructure that benefits all Papua New Guineans. ESIP works across sectors such as energy, telecommunications, health and markets, and supports Papua New Guinea's state-owned enterprise improvement program.

Cross-cutting activities are embedded into all aspects of ESIP's program delivery. These include gender equity, disability, social inclusion (GEDSI) and safeguards, climate change and disaster resilience, and locally led development.

Role Purpose

The Technical Manager (Solar Renewable Energy Program) will be responsible for providing technical oversight, project management and guidance of the engineering aspects of ESIP's growing portfolio of on-grid electrification activities. The projects include a selection of mini grids to be upgraded to solar renewable energy hybrid solutions for PNG Power Limited (PPL).
This role will also provide the highest standard of technical and engineering input, ensuring appropriate design, procurement and implementation are delivered to DFAT's expectations of outcomes.

About You

Key selection criteria for the potential successful candidate includes, but not limited to:

>A minimum of a Bachelor-level degree in a relevant engineering field preferably in renewable energy
>At least 10 years of practical and demonstrated engineering experience in power infrastructure projects, ideally in developing countries
>Knowledge and experience in grid-connected photovoltaic generation, Battery Energy Storage Systems and diesel generation highly regarded
