Description

Australia Awards South Asia & Mongolia is seeking a cost-effective Short Course training program for up to 20 participants. This Short Course will be delivered via blended delivery online and in Bangladesh or Australia over approximately eight months, commencing in April 2022 and completing no later than November 2022.

This Short Course will examine the role of social media in the radicalisation process and explore evidence-based initiatives to counter online threats. Participants will be encouraged to develop strategies to deploy counter-narratives, and to implement activities that could reduce the effectiveness of radicalising elements operating within the social media networks of local communities.

At completion of the Short Course, participants will have enhanced their skills and knowledge in the following key areas:

- mapping, understanding and monitoring the use of social networks by terrorist organisations and affiliated networks
- developing counter-narratives within social media networks to degrade the ability of extremist elements to radicalise communities
- exploring international cooperation in the surveillance of social networks.

Delivery strategies deployed during the Short Course will promote sharing of knowledge and experience to gain insights and perspectives of practitioners and professionals within Bangladesh, as well as networking with Australian counterparts.
